This Wing conducts about 20 routine surveys at various places for the Harbour Engineering Department and the Port Department every year. In addition to the above this wing can collects the tide data at vrious places throughout the Kerala coast as requested by the National Institute of Oceanography, Cchine on payment basis. The Hydrographic Survey Wing possesses the following besides most modern survey equipments and sea - going survey boats, 3 numbers OBM filled Dinghy and all other infrastrure facility.

            i.    Single & Duel frequency Echo Sounder

            ii.    Hand held Global Positioning System

            iii.    Differential Global Positioning System

            iv.    Total Stations

            v.    Hydrographic Software

            vi    Automatic Tide Gauges etc.

This wing can take up all Hydrographic Investigations on all water masses such as Sea Ports and Harbours, estuaries, lagoons, inland water transport canals. Dam reservoirs lakes etc. This Wing is on the process of modernization of for the preparation of digital charts.
